The Walker App – Information Retrieval System

Project Scope:

The Walker App is a mobile application that was commissioned by a religious organization. Their goal was to provide a method for users to gather, retrieve, remember and share information through their community.  The system provides a tangible way of measuring one’s progress by logging changes in behavior that are a direct result of repeatedly studying the information stored within the app. The app would also provide the ability for user’s to share their thoughts with “group” members, thus allowing for a small form of accountability.

Method:

At the beginning of the project, the client provided a paper version of the system, in book format. From this resource I was able to glean many important features that were necessary for the success of the project. Once I had completed my preliminary requirements gathering, I took my features list back to the client for confirmation through interviews with end users and client stakeholders. I then began creating a mid – level interactive wireframe that would show how the features worked to the client. I conducted numerous usability tests, as the design process developed, in order to identify any glitches and fix any changes that the client requested. For this project I used: requirements gathering, card sorting, paper prototyping, wireframing, usability testing, light graphic work, and work – flow studies.
